The highly successful Soul Night Market Brighton, has been delayed to early 2021, due to a decision by Bayside Council to only allow events that have 100% stallholders from the Bayside Municipality during December.
The Bayside Council are spending alot of money and resource to reactivate the local shopping areas and have put a hold on opproving events with stallholders from outside the Council Area until early 2021. Unrivalled Events owner Paul Harvey is obviously disappointed, but understanding with the decision "It was a suprise when we where asked to only have 100% stallholders from the Bayside Council area. Whilst we encourage local stallholders and have around 30% we cannot run our high quality market with 100% local stallholders, as there just arent enough in the categories for our market. So we have to hold off with the Night Market until early 2021 at this stage. Alot will depend also, on what COVID Normal will look like and if density limits will still be in place, as Green Point has its challenges, with its size and density limits but we expect this to be cleared up in the Premier's announcement in early December"
We know this will be disappointing for Bayside locals and our stallholders, who really took the market to their hearts earlier this year and we know that the market is also vital for community spirit and belonging so we will endeavour to start as soon as practically possible. At this stage the Friday December 4 market is cancelled and a decsion on the Friday January 8 market will be made after the COVID Normal announcement in early December. We will update as soon as we are clear to stage markets at the venue again.
